Almeta is a self-taught, rather eclectic artist who lives in the beautiful beach side town of Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast of Queensand, Australia. It is the stunning beaches and hinterland of this area that inspire Almeta to paint work that evokes the freshness and clarity of the Australian coast and so there are many beachscapes in her collection.
One of Almeta's other loves is portraiture. She always seeks to bring the subject to life using painterly techniques and colours. She is sought after as a commission portrait artist. She held a month long joint portrait exhibition in Brisbane in 2017, displaying portraits of subjects who had been either fostered or adopted. It evoked enormous interest. Not only does she receive commissions for portraits of people, but also for portraits of pets.
Her third love is abstract. She finds abstracts really challenging and exciting as they are always intuitive and the end result is as big a surprise to her, as to those who observe! She works with several techniques and is always looking for new and exciting ways to produce better, and more interesting effects.
She generally uses acrylics and oils with occasional dabbles into watercolour, cold wax and pastels.
Her paintings are contained in private collections in Australia, USA and Canada, the UK and South Korea.
Almeta's work is currently represented in Gallery 49 in Maleny, Queensland.
